Any piece of art work painted directly on any form of large permanent surface is termed “Mural”. Mural paintings are of different types, namely, 

1. Tempara  painting where the art work can be first completed in the canvass and later be attached to the wall or ceiling. 
2. Trompe-l’oeil painting which has experienced lot of changes over the time.
3. Fresco painting from the Italian word which is applied on plaster, on walls or ceilings.
4. Secco painting done on dry plaster, etc.
